Hi, I’m Helen.
Watching a canine massage therapist work on a rescue pup when I was volunteering at my local shelter back in Auckland, New Zealand, changed everything for me. At the time, I was deep in the corporate world, focused on strategy, leadership, and HR. But that moment sparked a shift - I knew I wanted to do something more hands-on, something that truly made a difference.
So, I took the leap. I went off to Chicago to train at the Chicago School of Canine Massage, completing 300 hours of intensive study. I became certified through the National Board of Animal Acupressure & Massage (US) and added qualifications in Canine Behaviour & Care and Pet First Aid (NZ) to ensure I could support dogs in the best way possible.
In 2015, I launched my dream business, Auckland Canine Massage. Over the years, I’ve worked with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and abilities - those struggling with arthritis, recovering from surgery, high-performance agility dogs, shelter rescues, and even some with just three legs (and once, one with only two legs). In New Zealand my work was featured on TV, live radio, and in the national press, I gave lectures for Vet Nurses in training, ran classes for pet parents and and I eventually wrote a book.
Now that I am based just outside Barcelona in Spain, I’m continuing this work, bringing the benefits of canine massage to more dogs and their humans. My goal? To make canine massage mainstream, so more dogs can move better, feel better, and enjoy life to the fullest.
